About Chase

Hi!  I’m Chase!

Thanks for stopping by!

A little about me… I’m an early 30-something living and working in Northern Virginia, outside Washington DC. I have a true passion for healthy living and use this blog as my space to share my inspiration and information.  But more than that, I love having this blog as a platform for conversation about all things fitness, wellness, nutrition, and frugal and happy living.  So please! Feel free to join in the discussion.

I work full time, but spend my free time teaching Les Mills group exercise classes, running races of various distances, reading, traveling and spending time with my fiancé, Jeff, and my dog Callie.  And writing this blog, of course.

I graduated with a B.S. in Exercise Science and am fascinated by the human body and how it reacts to food and exercise.

I believe in eating clean and I generally follow what would be considered a Flexitarian diet.  In addition, I attend Weight Watchers meetings for overall weight management.  I love good, real, natural food

Hey girl! I am loving the blog and realizing that we seem to have a lot in common. I too am closing in on the big 3-0 and also teach spin classes, just to point out a few similarities. Look forward to reading more!

Your blog is cool. I especially liked your piece on Yeardley Love and domestic violence.

I just saw your blog featured on Skinny Runner, and I was shocked when I saw your picture – you were my BodyPump instructor last Friday! Haha small world; I asked you the question at the end about my shoulder. Anyway, thanks for the tip, and I love your blog!

Just clicked through to your blog from Skinny Runner– and I’m so glad I did! Love what I’ve read so far… especially the bit about Risk Management. Hahaha… my dad is in RM (and yes, even taught RM classes at university around here)… you are now officially the second person I know in the Universe who has any idea what risk management is. When I was little, I thought he ran a copying machine, due to the endless stacks of paper. Best wishes!

Awesome! Yeah nobody understands what I do ;) LOL! Endless stacks of paper — story of my life! I love that your dad works in RM. It’s actually a pretty good industry! Thanks so much for stopping by! =)

Hi Chase,
You are on the right path.
I think the hardest part is staying motivated over the very long haul. About 5 years ago I dropped about 160 pounds. I’ve started and finished 5 full marathons.
Keeping the weight off is 90% mental and 90% physical. Yup nothing about losing weight really seems to add up.

Congrats on your weight loss and marathons! That’s a lot of work and you should be proud! I agree on the mental game! Sometimes I care, and sometimes I don’t care. Then when I stop caring, then it catches up with me! I’m working on a “My mantras” page which outlines the simple things I follow. Not rules, just tendencies if at all possible =) Thanks for stopping by!

Okay, we really do have a lot in common, it’s almost uncanny. Same age, same location (both home and office), love of dogs and baking, undercover nerds… We should definitely try to meet up :)

Hi! I recently started blogging and just stumbled upon your blog while blog-surfing, saw your post on the freshly pressed page. Anyway, I love it! I love your writings, so cute. Read your marathon post- wow what a huge accomplishment, and read through your other blog. …I feel like a total lame-o right now! You set high goals and resolutions like crazy and really push yourself– that’s awesome. Makes me want to go start training for a half marathon right now… :)
Congrats on running a marathon!
p.s.- I just turned 32 and think life as 30-something is the best! ;)
