About The CHASE Project

“Today you are you, this is truer than true, there’s no one alive that’s youer than you!” – Dr. Seuss

A few years ago,  I was working at a gym as the Group Fitness Director and our corporate office asked us to brainstorm some new programs that could be offered around our club to help promote health/wellness, etc in a way that hadn’t been done before.  I took this task to heart and brainstormed The Chase Project.  Yes, my name is Chase, but more importantly, the letters are an acronym for a more important theme:  Choose Health And Self Esteem.  It didn’t get off the ground at the time, but I held on to the idea knowing it would come back around as all good ideas do!

Personal Commandment #1:  Be Chase.
(Thanks, Gretchen Rubin!)

Choosing healthy living isn’t always easy in a world of decadence and indulgence!  To be completely honest, I got into exercise, wellness and nutrition because I was a pudgy [read: fat] kid and felt insecure about who I was and where I fit in.  I’ve always managed to have lots of friends in all differents walks of life, but as a child and a teen, I was so self conscious about my appearance that I spent a lot of hours being bummed about my body and would have gladly traded them for something much more fun!

Fast forward to 2010, and I want nothing more than to help people realize how great life is no matter what size you are or how much you weigh.  You can achieve wellness and health starting on day one.  It’s not about how many calories you ate or how many miles you ran, but about feeding your body and your soul from head to toe

The word choose is very important because in any given day, you are faced with hundreds of choices.  You have the ability to choose the kind of life you lead!  Choose to focus on being healthy and doing things to enhance your sense of self-esteem and you can move mountains!

But, naturally, I’m a work in progress.   So this is a project.  I am a project.

Sometimes up, sometimes down.  Learning all the while!

If this sounds good to you, I invite you to subscribe to The CHASE Project and start your path to wellness!

I am a brain aneurysm survivor from 2001. I have PCOS which had made weight management a challenge. After the acquired brain injury my weight went up and self-esteem hit rock bottom. It was a struggle to start over because my marriage ended during my recovery. Fast forward eight and a half years. I will be 44 next month. I had Lap Band surgery and kept 80 pounds off since 2006. I learned to swim for my 40th birthday. I am on disability but am an active volunteer still practicing law and mediation for at-risk children and families. I am starting work with a personal trainer and swim coach next week. So, I am going to give the CHASE project a look.

Congratulations on your 80 lb weight loss! WOW! That’s an incredible accomplishment! I think it’s great that you learned to swim and that you volunteer with at risk populations. What a great way to share your talents! :)
